Tapestry of Life wisdom

Faith and reason are inseparable just like living from the head and heart - I question if living from just one - head or heart is actually embracing the gift of life to its fullest …  Our society challenges us to choose between them, its structured in a way that often favors one over the other, and at times tells us that we can either be logical or spiritual, but not both. This couldn't be further from the truth, in order for us to live true Christian lives, faith and reason must be inseparable. 

I wrote to a wise friend at a time of challenge and as their wisdom flows so freely like the spirit working through them, they  replied - 

The tapestry of life is vast and colorful and you can think it is all too much and retreat into a small backwater and safe environment or you can embrace the color and know the strength is within you, then you can make the world a more beautiful place for all sorts of people including yourself.

This quote that I dearly hope they don't mind me sharing, I hold so close to my heart as it is a beautiful insight into life on so many levels.

The integration of faith and reason is like the fusion of many threads of a tapestry, woven together to make something beautiful and complete. All of the threads are necessary for the whole pattern to be seen. There will be dark threads as well as color which all add to the tapestry of life and each of them important in themselves and together the complete tapestry is the truth which is God himself can be seen. 

When we contemplate God through the use of faith and reason together we come to know and love him better. The realization has come that when we come to know and love God even closer, it is unavoidable to discover the truth about ourselves.  

At this time where challenges seem to be in all aspects of life, from the news, reading books, meeting new people, new experiences, learning new information and so forth. This wisdom is a gentle reminder that all the challenges and experiences are life, life in its essence that God has created and gifted. Colorful and rich, strength from within our Holy temples will only bring about beauty not only to others yet to ourselves also.
