Giving a little light

This week so far, has turned out to be insightful and a little challenging on a heart level, in a lot of different ways; yet one thing that keeps coming to mind is that in a very small simple way the greatest gift we can give to another is a little bit of light.

In times of uncertainly or lack of understanding of others actions or thoughts I turn to scripture in hope to gain some insight.
"For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope" (Romans 15:4)
However, in the past few days I have realized that when dealing with things from a place that effects your heart, scripture alone is not going to gain enough insight; those around us gift us with a wonderful gift when we embrace it and are open to it.

After all we are the same!!!

Physically our bodies - yours and mine - are made out of the 'dust of the earth', or as I recently learnt star dust!
Let me try to explain my point with my latest insightful body science discoveries ;o)...
A biologist can analyze it, tell us it is constructed of lime, magnesia, potash, soda, fluorine, silica, iron and other trace minerals. The cells in the body are constantly breaking down and dying, being carried away, while at the same time others come into being. Because of this process scientist inform us that each one of us have practically a new body in terms of cell structure every seven years, with some of the body been renewed even more frequently than this. AMAZING!…. What a process…. constantly dying and living at the same time, only God could design something like this so beautifully.

Yet we can't be mistaken about what has changed; throughout this process the 'who' in us has not changed, with our real memories not only retained within the brain yet in the cell structure and nerves are the same; our personalities with all the vivid images of life that has already been lived are still there. So the real us is constructed on physical, material and spiritual dimensions as well as our individuality.

We all are give the most amazing gift called life - some people embrace it with both hands, head and heart while others leave the gift for a while and slowly unwrap it or open it yet not see its beauty or worst still not open it at all. I guess as one who embraces the gift we are so eager to give to everyone else, so passing on a little bit of light can be the most powerful thing we do for another. In todays society it is not hard, a smile can go a long way, a kind word, helping a stranger even the most simplest act of picking up something someone dropped, giving a tissue to someone or acknowledging another, all these are so simple won't cost us anything however their effects go beyond what the giver can identify.

I guess what Im saying is that this week while i have been learning that living from the heart is extremely hard work as its so deeply moving to see others without 'light', yet am gently reminded that we are all made of the same stuff physically eliminating any kind of barriers and when you give someone a little bit of your 'who' or 'light' then what a gift you are giving - we each are encouraged to embrace the gift of life on all levels and all this encompasses!!
